Intro to Movement Medicine

Awakening the Dancer

Sat 17 Oct 2026£39.00

Movement is your first language. Before you could speak, you knew how to move, reach, turn, shake, rest and respond to the world around you. That natural intelligence is still within you.

Awakening the Dancer is a spacious, experiential introduction to Movement Medicine. There are no steps to learn and no right way to dance. You'll be guided to listen to your body, follow your own movement and rediscover the pleasure of being present and alive.

Come as you are. Your curiosity is more important than your confidence.

Intro to Movement Medicine

What is Movement Medicine?

A contemporary practice that uses free-form movement and conscious awareness to help you become more connected and more fully yourself. Through movement, you can begin to release tension, connect with your inner resources and discover new ways of responding to life’s challenges.

In Their Own Words

It's hard to describe what happens when we give ourselves permission to move. Here are a few reflections from people who have experienced Movement Medicine.
I was thinking part of me wants to dance but most of me doesn't. I went with that small part and jumped onto a Movement Medicine class. Steadily, gradually that small part grew. I felt myself recharge, effortlessly. Such a tonic - I feel refreshed - and all within the space of an hour with you. Deep gratitude. - Paola Havill

Wow... I felt my body pulsating, vibrating, whole. This embodiment practice was mind blowing and sense expanding. Thank you! - Eric Hoel

I have NEVER felt SO MUCH LOVE and so MUCH Gratitude. I honestly have never FELT embodied or become Love to this degree before and that is NOT an exaggeration! - Sage RavenStar

Frequently asked questions

I've never done Movement Medicine before. Is this for me?

Absolutely. This workshop is specifically designed as an introduction, so no previous Movement Medicine experience is needed. You don't need to know anything about the practice before you arrive.

Do I need to be a dancer?

Not at all. There are no steps to learn and no right way to dance. Movement Medicine is about listening to your own body and discovering your own movement, rather than performing or getting things right.

Do I need to be physically fit or able to move in a particular way?

No. You can participate in a way that works for your own body, including sitting, resting or adapting the practices when needed. See our Accessibility section for more information.

What if I feel self-conscious or nervous about dancing?

That's very common, especially when you're new. You won't be asked to perform or dance in a particular way. The emphasis is on your own experience, and you are always invited to move, pause or adapt in whatever way feels right for you.

What do I need to take part online?

You'll need a computer or tablet, a stable internet connection and a space where you can move comfortably and safely. Wear clothes that allow you to move freely. Headphones are optional.

Ready to dance?

Give yourself a day to reconnect with your body, move freely and discover what becomes possible when you follow your own movement.
