Carrie "Zaza" Branovan is a Movement Medicine® Teacher and Facilitator, photographer, and lifelong explorer of the relationship between beauty, embodiment, and human potential.
She is passionate about creating safe and welcoming spaces where people can reconnect with the wisdom of their bodies and discover what becomes possible when they bring their full presence to the moment. Her work invites participants to move beyond self-judgment and external expectations, and toward a more authentic, alive, and embodied relationship with themselves, others, and the world around them.
Carrie discovered Movement Medicine in Ireland in 2017 and was immediately drawn to its unique integration of conscious dance, ancient shamanic practice, neuroscience, and relational awareness. Inspired by the depth and integrity of the work, she undertook the path of apprenticeship and professional training with founders Ya'Acov and Susannah Darling Khan, becoming a licensed Movement Medicine Teacher and Facilitator.
Before Movement Medicine, Carrie spent decades working as an internationally acclaimed photographer, producer, consultant, marketing director, brand strategist, and CEO within conscious businesses spanning organic food, green building, and personal development. Across these diverse roles, a common thread has remained: helping people recognize what is most essential, meaningful, and alive within themselves.
Today, Carrie teaches classes, workshops, and retreats that support people in awakening the dancer within, cultivating belonging, and discovering the freedom, resilience, and creativity that emerge when we learn to trust the intelligence of our moving bodies.
Based in Wisconsin, USA, Carrie is especially interested in working with committed groups over time, creating spaces where authentic transformation can unfold through movement, relationship, and community.
Carrie's IN-VISIBLE Workshop was a transformative journey that has reshaped my perception of myself as a woman. Her unique process, which combines movement, open sharing, the creation of a safe space and the capture of my essence through her lens, has unearthed a profound potency within me that I never knew existed. Her ability to encapsulate, preserve, and bring to VISIBLE light my self-respect, beauty, strength, tenderness, grace, and exuberance in her photographs has given me a new perspective on myself. - Ana Mael, Somatic Practitioner PTSD and Trauma Recovery
I don't know how to put into words the emotions that I felt during Carrie's IN-VISIBLE workshop. Carrie created a warm space that made me feel so comfortable and allowed us all to really open up through words and movement. Carrie brought so much compassion and thought to the photography session at the end. Her photos are so stunning, I truly felt seen. - Rachel S. - Toronto
I am SO glad I pushed myself quite far out of my comfort zone to attend the IN-VISIBLE workshop. I’ve always been very shy at the idea of dancing “in front of” people and also generally resistant to have my photograph taken in any setting, as I have always felt myself to be un-photogenic. So doing both of these things at once, ‘being seen’ in these two ways, was actually a huuuuuge challenge for me! Carrie's warm grounded presence put me fully at ease in the experience right away. - Jen P- Toronto
