My offerings reach a wide spectrum: from young adults to those in their 90s, from seasoned dancers to complete newcomers discovering movement. It's also woven into my role as a school nurse, where Movement Medicine enhances my work.
4What is the meaning of this work for you?
It helps us discover who we truly are, uncover our unique gifts, and share them boldly with the world. Movement Medicine strengthens connections - to ourselves, nature, our ancestors, and the great mystery. I appreciate dancing our prayers together, for all our relations, this focus reminds me we're not alone and it's not all about me.
5Please tell us about two recent precious moments you’ve experienced in your professional Movement Medicine work.
A 60 year old woman hesitated to sign up - "I can't dance", her mantra of doubt. By the closing circle, she glowed: "Today I discovered: I can dance!" She'd never believed it before.
A dancer at 89, with just 10% vision, unsteady on wobbly legs and fully present. After only the first day of the workshop he gained stability in walking. He discovered the dance at 89!
6Please tell us something about when you recognised that Movement Medicine was going to play an important role in your life.
Movement Medicine transformed my life - I became more present in my body, grounded in my power. It even led me to Ecuador's rainforest for nine months, where the elements - fire, water, earth, air - wove deeply into me, my vibrant bond with plants deepend. I felt more alive from then on, I knew: Movement Medicine is more than dance; it's my path to presence, flourishing and healing.
