The Past at Your Back
Making Medicine from the Past
The past interests us for many reasons. For one, its effects are very much a part of our present in both useful and debilitating ways. As well as that, we have been taught again and again that we have the creative power within us to transform the wounds of the past, personal, familial and cultural, into pure medicine for the present.
Movement Medicine is a set of tools for taking the raw material of our experience (and that of our ancestors') and transforming it into the art of now. We no longer have to carry the past as an excuse for the present. Our focus this month will be on discovering that we all have it within us, not to change the past, but to change our relationship to it and the meaning we have made from it.
Can you imagine the past, no matter how bad it was, as something you could lean into that strengthens, motivates and inspires you to stand up and be who you are in this world. Shall we?
