Invitation
The Summer Long Dance is the School's flagship event, a 72 hour ceremonial journey to honour life and meet the reality of being human. It offers space to encounter both joy and grief, and everything in between. Together, participants arrive, prepare, cross into the experience, and are given time to integrate what emerges.
For those drawn to genuine embodied ceremony, this is an opening into a practice that is both ancient and alive, shaped for our time and free from fixed beliefs. The Long Dance is a chance to engage directly with the deeper intelligence that moves through all life. Through rhythm and movement, it supports a return to clarity, resilience, and a felt sense of being fully alive. It takes place in Hillyfield, a valley in Devon dedicated to regeneration and learning.
The gathering also raises funds for Fundación Pachamama’s Sacred Headwaters Project, supporting indigenous communities in protecting the Amazon rainforest, as well as many other amazing projects.
Guided by Ya’Acov and Susannah Darling Khan, the space is held with care, depth, and decades of experience. Their approach encourages each person to discover their own authentic expression and connection through movement. The work is grounded in Movement Medicine and its teachings.
It is a chance to remember that personal wellbeing is inseparable from the wellbeing of the Earth, and to move in recognition of that relationship. During the ceremony, simple fasting food is offered twice daily for those who need it.
This is a give away ceremony. Each participant is asked to raise a minimum of £400 for a charity or cause of their choice. There is no tuition fee, and the Long Dance, after having been subsidised for many years, now covers its costs.
Together, the global Summer Long Dance community has raised over £1 million for a wide range of inspiring initiatives. Our focus once again this year is supporting Fundación Pachamama, and dancers are free to raise money for that, for any other project they wish to dance for, or for a mixture of the two.
