Sacred Space
This month, we are picking up the baton of David Mooney's deep and wonderful work with "Befriending Your Nervous System" and shifting our focus to the MESA practice, which is a great context to go on applying what you learnt with David. The MESA practice is one of the 5 core practices of Movement Medicine. M.E.S.A. stands for the Movement Energetics of Spatial Awareness and working with them is very connected with working with the nature of our nervous systems. In a shamanic context, the mesa also means the field of energy that is the energetic signature of that practice.
The mesa is a safe space in which to do your work. In the case of Movement Medicine, the mesa is represented by the Movement Medicine mandala.
In terms of movement, the MESA practice is all about building a bridge between our inside experience and our outside connection. It builds and strengthens that bridge that allows us to embody who we are, communicate that, receive one another - all with the clarity of clear boundaries (or should we say, step-by step clearer boundaries 😉).
We are looking forward to sharing this vital aspect of Movement Medicine practice. It is so useful in the dance of day-to-day relationship and the recognition and creation of inner and outer sacred space.
