Ya'Acov and Susannah have been teaching Initiation for over 30 years and bring a level of holding for this inner work which is both clear, light and deep. This enables profound work to be done without histrionics, but with full permission for whatever needs to show up and be moved with.

What is the Initiation workshop?
INITIATION is an adventurous, bold and creative 7-day dance intensive with fine companions, excellent guidance and far-reaching results. The focus of our work is to bring awareness, responsibility, fluidity, and ultimately gratitude to life’s journey. To help you to learn all you can from your personal history and free you from any belief that your past has to create your future.
INITIATION will bring healing and understanding to your own journey and that of your ancestors and support you to pass on your wisdom rather than your wounds to the next generation. We will work with the 9 cycles of the life journey:
Conception, birth, childhood, puberty, adolescence, adulthood, maturity, old age and death.
Through embodied movement, we journey through the inner landscapes of the first five stages, calling in the archetypal energies that shape each phase. We honor what has occurred, shift what is possible, and return the lessons, challenges, and gifts of our lives back into the dance.
As we reach the threshold between adolescence and adulthood and maturity, we pause for a Vision Quest; a contemplative practice offering perspective on where you stand in your life today. As we journey onward and embrace the last 4 cycles, we deepen our readiness for full self-responsibility, by inviting Death as a teacher, reminding us that life is fleeting and therefore precious.
Our work centers on cultivating awareness, personal responsibility, ease of movement, and, ultimately, gratitude for the path of life. Through this process, you are invited to harvest the wisdom of your personal history and loosen the hold of any belief that your past must determine your future.
Prior to the gathering, your welcome letter will include invitations to bring photographs and meaningful objects. These items will be woven into ritual experiences, with details shared as the start date approaches.
The Intention of INITIATION
The purpose of INITIATION is to open the body, heart, and mind, allowing us to recognise our past as ideal preparation for a life lived with creativity, agency, and connection. Participants often leave with a sense of reconciliation with the past, presence in the now, renewed inspiration, and clarity about the journey of embodying and sharing their unique gifts.
Through this journey, you will be supported to:
- Receive, integrate, release, heal, and transform your history
- Embrace yourself fully and claim responsibility for who you are today
- Learn practical tools for consciously shaping a future aligned with your deeper purpose
- Develop a compassionate inner witness for yourself and others
- Make peace with mortality and relate to death as an ally

Initiation (along with the Phoenix Retreat) is one of the prerequisites for Apprenticeship and Professional Training in Movement Medicine.
