1Who and where are you?
I live by the sea in Wicklow, Ireland with my wife Yasia. I'm a fully qualified Psychotherapist for over 16 years. I have trained in Internal Family Systems and weave this deeply effective and compassionate approach into all my teachings. I have been on a 7 year deep journey with the Redpath and my Lakota teachers in Sioux Valley, Canada
2Are you a teacher and/or facilitator and when did you train and graduate?
I am a Movement Medicine teacher. I trained with the School of Movement Medicine in 2011 and graduated in 2013.
3Who do you serve with your Movement Medicine work?
I teach Movement Medicine extensively throughout Europe, including weekends, residentials, Phoenix and Initiation. One of the greatest honours of my life is to teach the Movement Medicine Apprenticeship program with my wife Yasia. What a privilege to witness the deep transformations that happen for these courageous humans as they step into their power and share their medicine. It is one of the most inspiring things in my life.
4What is the meaning of this work for you?
I have a passionate belief that every single human on this earth is a dancer. Witnessing people discover the dancer within is always really exciting to me and a very quick way to the love of life in my heart. Supporting people to catalyse their own medicine and emerge into their own creative dancer, along with cultivating compassion for self, others and life, is what underpins all my teachings.
5Please tell us about two recent precious moments you’ve experienced in your professional Movement Medicine work.
One, on the Phoenix process in Czech: the love, commitment and ceremonial focus in the room was palpable, the large fire in the room was crackling, singing its phoenix song and the first snow began to fall outside. It was a magic moment. Two, towards the end of our Apprenticeship last year, hearing the Apprentices share about their gratitude and love for each other was a deeply moving and precious moment for me.
6Please tell us something about when you recognised that Movement Medicine was going to play an important role in your life.
I write this on the 18th birthday of Movement Medicine, yeah! The recognition for me came in that first year. I knew right in my heart that what was emerging and being co-created by Ya'Acov and Susannah was going to be a long and deep journey for me. What a blessed thing to witness the creation of this magnificent practice, be part of its evolution and share the medicine over all these years.
7The thing you find yourself saying most often to your participants.
'You are a dancer!' You are the earth, moon, stars, sun, you are the breath of life, the oceans and rivers. The medicine is within you, trust yourself. You have way more creativity and gifts than you could ever imagine. All is welcome and everything has its dance.
8If you had 9 words to say anything you wanted to the world, what would it be?
We are nature dancing and all life is sacred.
