| School of Movement Medicine Curriculum |
| All our weekend workshops provide a good introduction to our work. We have also designed a 5-day introduction to Movement Medicine, called Awakening, which happens in the beautiful Devon springtime. Awakening is taught by both Susannah and Ya’Acov. Another good introduction is the Winter Solstice workshop we offer each year in different venues called Returning Home. |
| If you are interested in going further and if you want to take the apprenticeship route, the next step is Susannah’s Ongoing Group The Journey of Empowerment. This group happens over three intensive residential modules and will give you a thorough grounding in the essentials of Movement Medicine practice. It’s an inspiring journey in itself and, because of the skills you will learn there, it is a prerequisite for the Apprenticeship Programme. |
| Following the Journey of Empowerment, the next steps focus on The Journey of Responsibility. We recommend Ya’Acov’s Ritual work which is also a three module programme. You can choose to take all three modules together or take them individually. The three modules are: The Movement Medicine S.E.E.R Process (Systemic Essential Energy Retrieval), The Vision Quest, & The Burial of the Warrior Ceremony. |
| Initiation is an adventurous and imaginative 10-day intensive journey with fine companions, excellent guidance and far reaching results. The work will help you to ensure that you learn all you can from your personal history and free you from any belief that your past has to create your future. It will bring healing and understanding to your own journey and that of your ancestors and so support you to pass on your wisdom, and not your wounds, to the next generation. |
| Initiation is followed by the 7-day Phoenix Retreat. During the Phoenix Retreat, we will work with what we call the 'creation story' you have inherited and lived from, whose characters we call 'understudies'. In the theatre, an understudy is a person who learns another's role in order to be able to act as a replacement. On the stage of life, these understudies have taken to performing nearly all the time, while the real stars wait hidden in the wings.
Both Initiation and The Phoenix Retreat are essential prerequisites for the Apprenticeship programme. |
| The Apprenticehsip Programme, which focuses on The Journey of Awakening, is only open by application to those who have completed the prerequisites. It is taught by Ya’Acov & Susannah and a highly qualified Staff team. It happens over 18 months and 4 modules. Your apprenticeship is designed with you and you are supported to stay on track through monthly intra-module coaching. There are a further two modules for those who wish to train to teach Movement Medicine. The next programme will begin in the summer of 2011. |
| We also offer workshops for couples, as well as men’s and women’s retreats and a variety of other theme based workshops.
Taking time to integrate the work of Movement Medicine into daily life is an integral part of our school’s philosophy and approach to teaching. We have put prerequisites in place in order to maximise the benefit you can receive from them and ensure that you have the movement vocabulary needed to do so. |
